Yesterday was 30°C, but today’s temperature lowered to 17°C with rain. The journey we planned for today was from our cottage to Polanka cottage to have a lunch there and then continue to Nové Hrady town, where a great chateau with beautiful gardens is located.
NOTE: This post should have been out yesterday evening (26. 6.), but the wifi wasn’t the best there and it betrayed me right when I had the post finished and wanted to release it. So now I’m back home, where the internet connection is pretty much stable. I apologize for this and hope you’ll enjoy the photos!
Starting our journey
We met these friendly fellas.
I had to be quick, because the whole colony of ants was stealing all the blueberries, but I was successful and got to eat all these beauties. Yum yum.
We were quite early (the meals at Pohanka are served from 11:00 am and it was about 10:30 am), so we went mushrooming, finding few nice pieces.
Apparently there are deer everywhere in this land.
We took a wrong turn and accidentally came across this narrow stream with a mug hidden under the roof, which could be used for drinking the water.

The stream flows into this pond.
And here we are, in Nové Hrady. There’s the chateau (or at least a little bit of it).
Open the gates!
My dad with Bayonne
My most favourite ones :)
This is a gallery of flowers seen in the gardens of Nové Hrady Chateau. :)
Deer, deer, deer, deer, deer.
We got to look around in the stables!
This horse had a terrible stomachache and couldn’t even move. Poor thing! :(
This is a large maze made of trees.
There are the “gardens of vegetable”, where they grow tomatoes, turnip cabbages, lettuce, cucumbers etc.
Beside vegetables they grow also red- and blackcurrant, wild strawberries or gooseberries. I just had to taste them all and they were delicious.
The chateau itself
Yummy break. Cappucino and honey cake sprinkled with walnuts.
Front side of the Košumberk Castle, which is located in Luže. Unfortunately closed.
Me with my sister Julie and her friend Monica.
There is a playground right next to the house we are staying in.
Today I walked for cca 15 km in total. Although it’s more than yesterday (that was 10 km), I don’t feel as tired. That must be because of the weather, which was far more pleasant today. It was raining in the morning, but then it changed to cloudy and even the sun eventually showed up. :)
